Jose Francois (University of Manitoba); Eric Sigurdson (University of Manitoba)

Self-learning is a common learning strategy for physicians and health professionals. Learning portfolios are tools that facilitate reflection on practice, promote the development and documentation of self-learning activities and facilitate the learning process through access to learning resources. During this interactive workshop the participants will be introduced to the concept of learning portfolios, their functionality and role in systems of continuing professional development.

Objectives

1) Explain the purpose and function of a learning portfolio; 2) Discuss the advantages and barriers to implementation within CPD programs; 3) Describe options to promote their integration within CPD accreditation and credits systems.
