Intermountain Healthcare is a healthcare system with 23 hospitals located throughout Utah and Southern Idaho. The Stark Law applies to all areas of CME. Stark violations can be extremely costly to hospital and other entities that provide designated health services. As a result, we have developed and implemented a set of best practices for managing CME related financial relationships with physicians, including determining fair market value CME registration fees and speaker honorariums. This interactive lecture and discussion will provide important information that every CME program needs to know to protect their entity from potential Stark violations.
